Founded around 300AD
The capital of Nepal is Kathmandu, the country’s only large
city, believed to have been founded around 300AD. Its main development
occurred from the 14th century onwards when areas such as Patan
and Bhaktapur, with their ancient temples and shrines, were built.
It is now a rapidly expanding mixture of modern building, ancient
monuments, traditional Nepali housing and bustling tourist areas.
Idyllic tourist location
Another place of interest for those using Retreat Travel is Pokhara.
Situated approximately 200 km West of Kathmandu in a secluded
valley on the shores of Lake Phewa, it is an idyllic tourist location
with hotels, restaurants and shops nestled below the majestic
beauty of Annapurna and Macchapuchre (Fish Tail mountain). It
is in this beautiful spot that Retreat Travel has found the meditation
centre for its meditation holidays.
